A Brickfilm is a movie, short film, or even a music video where characters and scenery are made of (mostly LEGO) bricks.

"Brickfilms" are created using stop-motion animation - the most common form of this medium is Claymation, best known from films such as Wallace and Gromit. Movement is created by taking a series of still photographs with the minifigures moved slightly for each frame, resulting in the illusion of motion. By playing these pictures fast after each other they Minifig seams to realy move. If you want to know more about producing Brickfilms, a good place to start is Bricks in Motion, the center of the brickfilming community. The link is at the end of this article.

Brickfilms are presented at contests like Brickfilms.com in United States or Steinerei in United States. You can find articles about some of them in the Brickfilm Category.

History

The first Brickfilm was made in the late 1980s by a woman named Lindsay Fleay, called The Magic Portal. Ever since then, due to the lack of camera cost, Brickfilming has become popular on cites, such as Youtube. With the introduction of Lego Stephen Spielberg MovieMaking Set, Lego has encouraged fans to make Brickfilms.

Communities
